STR Forensic has evaluated thousands of low and steep slope roof systems for the insurance, construction and legal industries. We provide expert opinions on cause & origin of damage, scope of damage and reparability of damage. We have extensive experience in the design of building structures, components and cladding to resist wind pressures, are Texas Department of Insurance certified wind inspectors and hold industry recognized certificates for inspection of commercial low-slope and residential steep-slope roof systems.

Source of Moisture
STR Forensic has evaluated numerous residential and commercial claims requiring the determination of source of moisture, scope of damage, and duration of moisture intrusion for all components of the building envelope. Our source of moisture inspections have included identifying the source of moisture for roofs due to deteriorated flashings, deteriorated sealants and gaskets, hail-strike punctures, punctures from wind-borne debris, improper system installation, ice dams, among many others. We have performed numerous source of moisture inspections for slab-on-grade foundations and pier and beam crawl space foundation systems that exhibit high in-service moisture from capillary action, high water tables, poor grading, degraded or missing vapor barriers, and inadequate ventilation resulting in high in-service moisture contents. We are experienced identifying the source of moisture in building envelope components as well as plumbing and HVAC components.
